Job summary

Concordia Place in Chicago is seeking a part-time School-Age 365 Assistant Teacher to supervise children from 2:30pm to 6pm, assist the lead teacher, and implement developmentally appropriate activities. This role emphasizes safety, engagement, and nurturing relationships with children and families within a faith-inspired community.

The position supports a collaborative, supportive workplace with professional development opportunities and a strong focus on inclusive education and varied learning

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Preferred: 30 college credits with 6 in elementary education / child development or CDA.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher).
• Ability to stand, walk, lift up to 30 pounds; comfortable with desk and classroom tasks.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and maintain safety of the children at all times.
• Plan and implement activities with classroom staff based on developmentally appropriate curriculum.
• Organize and lead activities promoting whole-child development.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet varying needs and interests.
• Observe children daily to assess skills and needs to support learning.
• Provide materials and resources for children and maintain a safe classroom.
