Job summary

Plainfield YMCA, a branch of the Greater Somerset County YMCA (GSCY), is seeking School Age Child Care (SACC) Counselors who are cause-driven leaders committed to nurturing youth and fostering social responsibility. This on-site role requires dedication to safety, supervision, and character-building activities for children aged 6–13.

Responsibilities include implementing engaging programs, supervising groups, and maintaining a safe, organized space across multiple sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have a High School Diploma or be a Senior in High School.
• Experience working with children in structured groups preferred.
• Ability to learn and think quickly to resolve child-to-child situations.
• Good communication skills and ability to relate to diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Assists with the implementation of a varied program for children (ages 6–13) including Homework Time and activities.
• Assists the Site Supervisor with supervision of all children on site groups (6–100).
• Builds relationships with children and families; greet them positively daily.
• Maintains discipline following policy and safety guidelines.
