Job summary

YMCA of Montclair seeks a School Age Child Care Counselor to support the SACC program. You will assist in activities, supervise children, and help maintain health and safety across sites in Montclair.

Qualifications include HS Diploma/GED, 1+ year experience with children, strong communication and organizational skills, and background clearance. CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or within 90 days) are required.

Qualifications

• HS Degree/GED (or working towards) and a minimum of one year experience working with children under age 13.
• Excellent human relation skills and clear communication.
• Good organizational skills and reliability.
• Clearance from a criminal background check.
• CPR/AED and First Aid Certification OR certification within 90 days of employment.
• Knowledge of the YMCA mission and core values.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, preparation and implementation of activities for extended care.
• Assist with distribution and cleanup of daily snacks.
• Lead children in age-appropriate activities and groups.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and supervise health, safety and development.
• Foster communication with parents and follow policies.
• Attend required trainings and staff meetings; may float to other locations.
