Job summary

Waukegan Park District seeks a Recreation Program Coordinator-General Recreation to support after-school and before-school care programs for school-age children. The role includes on-site facility management, transportation, and program administration within the Belvidere Recreation Center in Waukegan, IL.

Some evening and weekend hours are required. The employee will manage registrations, bus/worksite logistics, and help develop developmentally appropriate activities while maintaining safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; AA/AS degree preferred.
• Experience with youth and recreation programs is desirable.
• Excellent communication and organization skills.

Responsibilities

• Assists in developing and implementing out-of-school recreation programs.
• Provides leadership and supervision during programs to meet objectives.
• Opens and prepares the facility; assists with closing procedures.
• Maintains records and reports related to programs and services.
• Processes registrations and payments; handles cash with accuracy.
• Provides information to the public and serves as a contact for inquiries.
• Ensures safety and supervises youth during activities.
• Willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required

Associate of Applied Science Degree in Early Childhood Education, Recreation Administration, Therapeutic Recreation, Social Work, or related field preferred
