Job summary

The YMCA of the Suncoast is seeking a YReads After School Specialist to support kindergarten through fifth-grade literacy programs. The role includes supervising students, assisting with attendance, and aiding the program coordinator in delivering curriculum-based reading instruction.

Responsibilities also involve ensuring safety, following abuse risk management procedures, and fostering a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Interest in literacy intervention and helping children.
• Experience with children in educational settings is preferred.
• Tutoring experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in student supervision and maintain order.
• Help students to and from the restroom.
• Assist coordinator with picking up/dropping off students around the school.
• Oversee proper procedures during parent pick-up.
• Maintain attendance, testing, and sign-in/out logs.
• Teach basic reading skills using YREADS curriculum.
• Attend abuse risk management training and follow reporting requirements.
• Adhere to abuse risk management responsibilities.
