Job summary

Somerville Public Schools is seeking a part-time Afterschool PT Assistant Teacher for West Somerville. The role supports after-school and vacation programming for Pre-K through 8th grade, focusing on safe, engaging activities and respectful supervision.

The position entails planning daily activities, supervising groups, coordinating with staff, and ensuring program fidelity and health/safety policies are followed. Applicants must meet CORI requirements and be able to work up to 19 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or High School Diploma with relevant experience.
• Minimum 3 months experience with school-age children.
• Experience with project-based curriculum.
• Ability to supervise and set clear limits.
• Experience with diverse communities.
• Ability to work with students with special educational or emotional needs.
