Job summary

Crossroads YMCA is seeking a Before & After School Care Instructor to help elementary-aged children start and end their day with positive experiences. You will engage groups, lead games and activities, and support homework help while fostering a welcoming, safe environment.

You will collaborate with staff and families, follow program policies, and participate in ongoing training. This role suits someone active, patient, and excited about youth development.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Previous experience working with children is preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, coworkers and school staff.
• Willingness to complete orientation, safety, CPR/First Aid and ongoing training.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage groups of school-age children before and after school.
• Plan and lead age-appropriate games, crafts, STEM activities, outdoor play, and enrichment experiences.
• Assist children with homework and encourage positive social interactions.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, school staff, and coworkers.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment following program policies.
• Observe children's behavior and address conflicts respectfully; maintain required documentation.
