Job summary

Ozanam Afterschool is seeking a part-time Program Director to provide strategic leadership and daily oversight of high-quality academic, athletic, and enrichment programs for underserved youth in Pittsburgh. The role focuses on promoting student achievement, maintaining a safe and inclusive environment, and ensuring compliance with DHS and reporting requirements.

You will recruit participants, supervise staff and volunteers, and build partnerships with schools and community organizations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with 3–5 years managing afterschool or youth programs.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience in program development, staff and volunteer supervision.
  • Familiarity with program logistics, data collection, DHS monitoring visits, reporting and outcomes evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, enroll, and retain participants and families to maintain enrollment; track attendance and outcomes.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee high-quality afterschool programming aligned with the mission.
  • Lead daily ASP operations: schedules, field trips, drills, ratios, and records.
  • Supervise and develop ASP staff, support workers, and volunteers; oversee tutoring.
  • Build relationships with students, families, schools, partners to strengthen programming.
  • Ensure DHS compliance with required documentation and monitoring readiness.
  • Maintain a safe, structured environment and address behavioral concerns.

Job description

Duration: September 8, 2026-June 10, 2027

ASP Work Hours: 4:00p.m. – 6:00p.m

ASP Work Week: Monday - Friday

Stipend: $600 Bi-monthly

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in education, sports administration, social work, youth development, a related field, or equivalent experience, with 3–5 years of experience managing afterschool, K–12 youth, or community-based programs, particularly in underserved communities. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills are essential.

Experience in program development, staff and volunteer supervision. Increase youth development, and behavior management.

Familiarity in program logistics, data collection, DHS monitoring visits, reporting, and outcomes evaluation. Technological skills are necessary. Capable to obtain CPR/First Aid certification and required clearances.

ASP DIRECTOR ROLE

The Ozanam Afterschool Part-Time Program Director provides strategic leadership and daily oversight of high-quality academic, athletic, and enrichment programs. Promote student achievement and overall youth development while ensuring a safe, structured, and inclusive environment aligned with Ozanam’s mission and community impact goals.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Recruit, enroll, and retain participants and families to maintain a year-round enrollment of a daily attendance of 25 ASP participants. Develop accurate systems to track attendance, participation, progress, and program outcomes.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee high-quality afterschool programming aligned with Ozanam’s mission, including academic achievement, tutoring, enrichment, leadership development, life skills, and youth development.
  • Lead daily ASP operations, including maintaining accurate schedules, coordinating field trips, schedule fire drills, ensuring appropriate child-to-staff ratios and program coverage, and maintaining participant records and required program documentation.
  • Conduct staff meetings. Supervise, develop, and evaluate ASP staff, support workers and volunteers. Oversee tutoring program
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with students, families, schools, community partners, and local colleges and universities to strengthen programming, recruit volunteers, and support student success.
  • Demonstrate DHS compliance with required documentation, visible ASP schedules, student/parent surveys and preparing staff and participant files for DHS monitoring visits.
  • Ensure a safe, structured environment by addressing behavioral concerns, documenting incidents, and promoting youth safety and well-being.
