Job summary

Good Shepherd Services in New York, NY is seeking an Assistant Group Leader for the after-school enrichment and recreational program. The role supports staff and assists in delivering planned activities, under the Program Director’s supervision.

Hours: Up to 20 hours/Week; Non-Exempt. Salary: $17.00 per hour. Reports To: Program Director, PS306. Join our team to help create a safe, engaging environment for youth after school.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must demonstrate reliable and consistent work habits, and the ability to work with other youth.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to work in a dynamic team environment.
• Commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.

Responsibilities

• Assist the group leader with engaging activities, including sports and recreation, educational, arts and crafts, and special events.
• Collect attendance folder and other data as necessary.
• Supervise participants throughout the afterschool program.
• Distribute snacks and assist with clean-up.
• Assist with monitoring and maintaining the rules of the program and upholding the afterschool model.
• Support activity instructor(s) with lessons.
• Collaborate with group leader to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
• Follow all GSS, DYCD and SACC regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
