Job summary

New York Edge is seeking a Photography Specialist to organize, lead, and promote performing arts activities within after-school and summer programs in New York City public schools. You will teach photography, videography, and related arts while aligning with the New York State Arts Learning Standards and ensuring safe, engaging learning environments.

The role involves managing student behavior, coordinating rehearsals, and guiding students toward a final project, with a schedule of 9–15 hours

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent; some college preferred.
• Minimum of one year of related work experience.
• Minimum of one year of coaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Establish rules for behavior and maintain order among students.
• Organize, lead, and promote interest in arts activities such as photography, filming, and videography.
• Direct performance groups and rehearsals.
• Set clear objectives for lessons and communicate them to students.
• Assess group interests and adapt activities to student needs.
• Prepare materials and classrooms for activities.
• Explain safety procedures and demonstrate equipment use.
• Evaluate activities for results.
• Adapt teaching methods to student needs.
• Progress toward final project.
