Groves Learning invites applicants to join the Northside Achievement Zone partnership as an After-School Literacy Tutor on a 1099 contract. You will tutor small groups, use a structured literacy approach, and build lasting relationships with students at North Minneapolis partner schools.

You will work roughly 15 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with sessions typically 3:00–6:00 p.m. training and orientation are provided, and you’ll maintain a consistent schedule to support about 100

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, education, literacy, tutoring, or community programs—or strong transferable skills and an aptitude for learning.
• Ability to connect with children and build trusting relationships.
• Dependability and commitment to an agreed-upon schedule.
• Willingness to participate in orientation, training, and child-safety requirements.

Responsabilités

• Build consistent, encouraging relationships with a small group of students.
• Provide literacy tutoring to students in pairs using a structured instructional model.
• Support approximately 10 students organized into five tutoring pairs.
• Deliver consistent tutoring sessions throughout the week.
• Use curriculum, instructional materials, and progress-monitoring tools provided through the program.
• Help students strengthen foundational reading skills, including phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, and comprehension.
• Communicate regularly with program and site contacts.
• Maintain reliable attendance and fulfill all agreed-upon tutoring sessions.
• Complete required orientation, training, and child-safety requirements.
• Create an environment where students feel respected, capable, and excited to return.
