Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities seeks a Licensed Literacy Instructor (contract) to deliver literacy instruction to K-8 students in an after-school setting. The role collaborates with program leadership to implement reading interventions using science of reading curricula.

The position follows the Reading Club model, with assessments and targeted instruction, four days per week after school and seasonal contracts, aligned to the school calendar. Bilingual ability is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education.
• Must hold a current MN teaching license covering K-8 – include your file folder number in application.
• Experience with child development and learning.
• Experience with the Sonday system is a plus.
• Strong partnership development and relationship management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and applicable software.

Responsibilities

• Determine individualized learning objectives and design lesson plans and appropriate learning activities.
• Engage students in speaking, writing and reading activities to further language understanding
• Strengthen student skills in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension
• Motivate a class of students from different backgrounds and abilities
• Advise students on their progress and provide positive feedback
• Guide students through social emotional learning activities and practices
