Job summary

St Mary's County Government seeks a School Age Lead Teacher to assist site directors in operating before- and after-school programs across Hollywood locations. You will supervise children, participate in activities, and help maintain a safe, inclusive environment for all participants.

The role requires Maryland teacher qualifications, 90-hour training, and CPR/First Aid, plus background checks. Part-time hours include school-year mornings and afternoons with occasional events.

Qualifications

• Must have work or volunteer experience with children in a licensed program or formal care/recreation setting.
• 90-hour child growth and development and school age curriculum OR be a licensed teacher.
• Maryland teacher qualification with varying levels of experience.

Responsibilities

• Always maintain a professional self-image and model department values.
• Plan monthly activities developmentally appropriate for elementary-age children.
• Communicate professionally with site director, parents, and staff.
• Maintain program materials and locations in a clean, orderly manner.
• Comply with state licensing requirements and departmental procedures.
• Monitor groups of children to enforce rules and provide a safe, inclusive environment.
• Review accommodation plans and include all children in the program.
• Run site in the absence of the site director.
• Attend monthly staff meetings and trainings.
• Assist in preparing for and running division-sponsored events.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
