Job summary

American Montessori Academy in Livonia is hiring a part-time Latchkey Aide. The position offers 15 hours per week at $18 an hour, with a schedule Monday through Thursday 3:30-6:00pm and Friday 1:30-6:00pm.

The ideal candidate will be patient, reliable, and dedicated to creating a supportive atmosphere for children before and after school. Prior experience with kids is preferred and a high school diploma is required or equivalent.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in child development or related fields is a plus.
• Previous experience working with children in an educational or caregiving setting preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to relate to children and families.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students during latchkey hours before school and after school, ensuring safety and well-being.
• Monitor student behavior and enforce school rules to maintain a respectful environment.
• Assist students with homework and schoolwork, providing guidance as needed.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding behavior and issues.
• Manage conflicts calmly and constructively, fostering a positive atmosphere.
• Ensure cleanliness and organization of the latchkey space.
• Attend training sessions and staff meetings to enhance relevant skills.
