Sunnyside Community Services is seeking a part-time Gym Instructor to lead two 50–55 minute gym classes daily for grades K–5 at P.S. 199Q, Sunnyside, Queens. You will create age-appropriate PE plans, adapt activities for varied abilities, and ensure a safe, inclusive environment after school hours.

The Gym Instructor will report directly to the Program Director and work alongside another staff member to ensure the safety and well-being of children ages 5–12. The Instructor will develop and lead age-appropriate physical education lessons and recreational activities that promote teamwork, sportsmanship, healthy habits, and physical fitness. Lessons will be adapted for different grade levels and abilities while creating an inclusive, engaging, and positive environment for students in grades K–5.
This position is part of the Youth and Family Services division at Sunnyside Community Services, which includes a pre-kindergarten program, elementary and middle school after-school programs, high school job readiness and career readiness programs, enrichment programming, and Adult and Immigrant Services.
Status: Part-time (17.5 hours per week)
Reports to: Program Director
Compensation: $20 – $25 per hour
Schedule: 2 – 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday (September 2026 – June 2027)
Location: P.S. 199Q in Sunnyside, Queens (Elementary School – Grades K-5)
