Job summary

Center for Family Life in Sunset Park is seeking a Part-Time Group Leader for the PS169 School-Based Programming team. The role involves supervising a dynamic group of youth, coordinating with Activity Specialists and Youth Workers, and delivering engaging lessons and activities after school.

You will support arts and literacy development, participate in field trips, and contribute to special events while upholding safety and school policies. Background checks apply.

Qualifications

• Education/Degree minimum requirement: High School Diploma or Equivalency Diploma
• Years of Experience: currently in College or 2 years of experience working with children
• Age: 18 years-old or older, preferred
• Strong youth development background
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Skilled in working with youth of all ages
• Flexible and possesses the ability to work well as a member of a team of different disciplines
• Bilingual: English/Mandarin/Cantonese or English/Spanish, preferred

Responsibilities

• Plan and facilitate quality and educational instruction that fosters group work
• Participate with children in activities such as sports, music, art, dance and homework assistance
• Help participant grow and develop as individuals and bond as a group
• Guide children’s development and help them relate to each other and to adults
• Collaborate with a team of professional artists, social workers and youth workers to create an original production that engages 100+ participants in arts and literacy skill development
• Utilize restorative group-management skills in a non-traditional classroom setting
• Attend, supervise, and facilitate activities with participants on fieldtrips and off-site locations around NYC
• Contribute to planning and execution of special events, staff development training, and other community building activities
• Support the overall program through additional tasks for safe operation and events
• Attend weekly professional development meetings
• Demonstrate ability to maintain a high energy level
• Follow NYC Public School policies and CFL attire requirements
