Job summary

Great Bay Kids Company is hiring Group Leaders for the 2026-2027 School Year in Exeter, NH. The role focuses on planning engaging lessons, ensuring a safe, nurturing setting, and supporting curriculum delivery in alignment with NH childcare rules.

Responsibilities include coordinating curriculum, coaching staff, engaging children through age-appropriate activities, communicating with parents, and ensuring policies and regulations are followed.

Qualifications

  • Experience with school-age children (600 hours).
  • 3 credits in child development or related field.
  • Certified coach.
  • 5 years parenting experience.
  • Qualified as group leader in a school-age program before 2022.

  • Lead by example; encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching.
  • Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth.
  • Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Ensure all center polices and state regulations are met.
  • Ensure a healthy classroom environment including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
  • Supervise teacher assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities, hygiene and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records, forms and files.
  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.

Skills

Requirements

According to the New Hampshire Child Care Licensing Rules: A group leader in a school-age program shall be at least 17 years of age, and have one of the following:

  • (1) Experience working with school-age children, totaling 600 hours;
  • (2) Documentation of at least 3 credits in child development, education, recreation, or other field of study focused on children, awarded by an accredited college or university;
  • (3) Documentation that she or he is a certified coach;
  • (4) Documentation of 5 years of parenting experience; or
  • (5) Documentation from or on file with the department that she or he was qualified and employed as a group leader in a school-age program on or before the adoption of these rules in 2022.
