Job summary

Friendly House in Portland, OR is seeking a School Aged Programs Floating Teacher to support after-school classrooms, maintain a safe space, and ensure continuity across Chapman School and Wallace Park sites. This in-person role runs Monday–Friday, 1pm–6pm and requires working authorization in the United States.

The position supports teachers, assists with curriculum, and helps manage ratios for groups up to 100 children with supervision from the Director of School Aged Programs.

Qualifications

• Be at least 15 years of age.
• Current first aid and pediatric CPR training certificate.
• Current food handler certification.
• Current enrollment in CCLD’s Central Background Registry (CBR) if 18 years or older.
• Department of Early Learning and Care teacher qualification preferred.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Interact with staff and other adults in a positive and respectful manner.
• Assist in After School classrooms and the kitchen.
• Attend required staff meetings and trainings.
• Support the weekly curriculum and cover for absent staff.
• Provide 1 on 1 support for children as needed and within ratios.
• Maintain safe, clean, organized indoor/outdoor spaces and materials.
• Routinely clean, sanitize, and disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
• Prepare classrooms for the day and manage materials.
• Check and respond to emails daily.
• Notify directors of incidents or health and safety hazards per procedures.
