Job summary

Chelmsford Public Schools is seeking an Extended Day Counselor to coordinate Community Education Programs at Chelmsford Elementary and Parker Middle School. This part-time role supports after-school activities, supervises students, and helps implement program plans.

Starting immediately with flexible scheduling before and after school, the position requires working with children, communicating with families, and meeting safety guidelines. CORI checks are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma; two years of college preferred.
• Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Experience working with age-appropriate students in a school setting.
• Alternatives to the above qualifications may be acceptable with Director approval.
• CORI and fingerprinting completed and accepted.

Responsibilities

• Attend mandatory training before Extended Day starts.
• Assist with records on students (sign in/sign out) and daily program plan.
• Plan activities to enhance student experience and adapt for small groups.
• Meet individualized needs and support students with behavioral or physical challenges.
• Confer with teachers and supervisors regarding students and supervise/interact with students.
• Communicate with parents about highlights and concerns.
• Work on the floor, lift over 50 lbs as needed and follow guidelines.
