Job summary

KIPP Excelencia Community Prep is seeking an After School Teacher/Instructor to support students after school with homework help, academic enrichment, and program activities on site in Redwood City.

The role focuses on leadership, communication, and patience, with responsibilities including attendance tracking, lesson planning, and coordinating with families. This part-time, 20-hour weekly position runs on the school calendar and may include a Summer Extension period.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to work with youth from diverse backgrounds and address discipline issues.
• Experience working with youth, parents and community partners.
• Proficient with Google Suite applications (Google Classroom, Hangout, Docs, Sheets, Slides).
• Unquestioned integrity and alignment with KIPP Public Schools Northern California’s mission.

Responsibilities

• Implement after school activities in core program areas (academic, homework club, fitness, arts).
• Document schedules, lesson plans, curriculum, youth participation and outcomes.
• Use positive behavior and classroom management techniques with children.
• Track student attendance (sign-in/sign-out) daily.
• Assist with after school program registration, customer service and outreach.
• Maintain health and safety standards for students and staff.
• Participate in setup, cleanup and facility maintenance for after school activities.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, school personnel and community partners.
