Job summary

Columbia Heights Public Schools seeks ENCORE teachers for Valley View Elementary to provide engaging after-school enrichment. Classes run within the ENCORE program, with an academic component and flexible scheduling across 2-hour blocks and optional morning sessions.

Selected teachers will work with the ENCORE leadership team, may teach multiple classes per semester, and must maintain attendance records and timely timesheets. The program emphasizes a friendly, energetic learning environment.

Qualifications

• Proposed classes must include an academic component.
• Pay rate is $40.00/hr.
• Afterschool Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; may work 1, 2 or 3 days per week.
• Before school options Monday-Friday.
• Each semester, the teacher is allowed a maximum of 2 prep hours for curriculum writing.
• If hired as ENCORE teacher, you may also sub in ENCORE on your non-scheduled ENCORE days.
• ENCORE aims to have a friendly, fun, and engaging culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead after-school enrichment within ENCORE classes.
• Propose class ideas to ENCORE leadership.
• First-year teachers may teach one ENCORE class per semester.
• Returning teachers may teach up to three classes per semester.
• Returning teachers may teach one day and be a Site Facilitator on a day they are not teaching.
• Teachers take attendance and submit timesheets on time.
