Job summary

Wonder Academy in Indian Trail, NC, seeks a compassionate After-School Teacher for school-age children (6–12). Role involves supervising activities, promoting well-being, and fostering a positive learning environment.

Hours are Monday–Friday, 12:00PM–6:00PM, with additional UCPS Teacher Work Day coverage. Possibility to become a full-time summer position based on performance and interest.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, or related field preferred.
• Teaching certification or relevant licensure (if applicable).
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with modern educational tools and resources.
• Must obtain North Carolina Child Care Criminal Qualifying Letter.
• Present a TB Screening/Test and Health Assessment.
• Previous experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage groups of children effectively.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Incorporate interactive and innovative teaching methods for after-school activities.
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment and collaborate with staff.
• Plan and lead educational and recreational activities.
• Provide homework assistance and academic support.
• Supervise students to ensure safety and well-being.
• Foster a welcoming environment that supports diverse learners.
• Communicate with parents and guardians about progress and behavior.
• Maintain a clean and organized classroom or activity space.
