Job summary

The YWCA of the City of New York is seeking an Education Specialist to develop thematic curriculum aligned with its mission. You will write and review lesson plans, train staff, and plan culminating events, while promoting diversity, equity, and anti-racism in program delivery across NYC sites.

The role emphasizes evidence-based practices, collaboration with school partners, and ongoing staff development in UbD, SEL, and inclusive instruction, with travel across New York City required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 3+ years designing and implementing curriculum for school-age youth; after-school/DYCD experience preferred.
• Experience with Understanding by Design (UbD) and project-based learning; SEL integration.

Responsibilities

• Design and oversee high-quality curricula and materials for Fall, Spring, and Summer units.
• Develop lesson plans aligned with thematic units and DOE standards.
• Plan at least three theme-based culminating events annually.
• Lead UbD-aligned units across Literacy, STEM, Arts, SEL, and Civic content areas.
• Provide staff coaching and professional development on UbD, SEL, restorative practices, and assessments.
