Job summary

Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit is seeking a dedicated After-School Counselor for its on-site program in Farmington Hills, MI. The role runs Monday through Friday, 3:15pm to 5:30pm, at a rate of $18.00 per hour, serving Kindergarten to 4th grade students.

The ideal candidate will have experience with children and a passion for supporting learning outside the traditional classroom, including homework help and activity planning.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with children in a school or after-school setting.
• Basic knowledge of child development and educational activities.
• First aid and CPR certified.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience and resilience with excellent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to pass background check.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing daily after-school activities.
• Supervise and engage children in age-appropriate activities.
• Maintain a safe and positive environment for the children.
• Distribute snacks following health and safety guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with parents/staff about their child’s behavior.
• Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance.

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic After-School Counselor (part-time) to assist in providing a safe, caring and educational environment for children in our after-school program. The hours are Monday through Friday 3:15pm to 5:30pm, rate of $18.00 per hour. The children will be Kindergarten to 4th grade.

Responsibilities include supervising and guiding children, assisting with homework, planning and implementing educational activities, and communicating effectively with parents and school staff.
