Job summary

Play-Well TEKnologies in California is seeking smart, creative instructors to teach LEGO classes and camps for K-8 students. You’ll introduce LEGO Spike Prime and basic programming, guiding students through hands-on challenges and activities to unlock creativity and problem-solving skills.

The role is part-time with afternoon classes on weekdays and seasonal camps. Prior CS or education background is preferred; training, mileage reimbursement, and benefits eligibility are noted for the right

Qualifications

  • Experience in teaching or tutoring, preferably in computer science or education.
  • Ability to manage a class and keep students engaged and safe.
  • Reliable transportation and storage for teaching materials.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct LEGO robotics classes and camps using Spike Prime systems.
  • Ensure student safety, engagement and positive learning experience.
  • Communicate with parents and provide status updates to management.
  • Complete required training and maintain teaching materials and kit upkeep.

Would you like to use a ridiculous amount of LEGO materials to teach kids the basics of coding and robotics? If so, then this may be your dream job!At Play-Well TEKnologies we are dedicated to teaching students in grades K-8 about engineering and robotics through hands-on experience with LEGO, inquiry-based learning, and play.We are looking for smart, creative, dynamic instructors from computer science and/or education backgrounds to teach LEGO classes and camps where students are introduced to the LEGO Spike Prime system and basic programming concepts. Students then have the opportunity to unlock their creativity and problem-solving skills through additional challenges and activities.Schedule:School Year: M-F afternoons, part-time, flexible, occasional weekend hoursSummer: M-F, half-day and full-day camps, typically between 9am and 4pm, plus setup/breakdownCompensation: Instructors are paid for all hours worked, including teaching, setup, round trip drive time, and training. Also, any day that you teach, you receive AT MINIMUM 3 hours of pay.Benefits:Drive timeMileage reimbursement when transporting materials of $.40Allowances for electronics, internet and kit storagePaid sick and safe leave401K after 3 months of hireHealth care benefits only available to employees who average 30 or more hours per week.#PWServes as a representative of Play-Well in a positive and professional manner.Completes all training programs as required by the Area Manager.Understands the curriculum and concepts thoroughly to be able to provide value to participants with diverse abilities and interests.Manages each class session, ensuring the children are safe, engaged, and having fun.Communicates with parents and clients in a knowledgeable, respectful and tactful manner to address questions or concerns.Adheres to all Play-Well and facility safety procedures and procedures for supervision and release of children.Care, safekeeping, and upkeep of assigned LEGO teaching kit(s).Responds quickly to communications from management, whether by phone, text, or email.Regularly communicates with Area Manager with questions, concerns and updates.Education / Experience / RequirementsWork history varies. Computer science and some teaching experience is preferred.Reliable transportation and a secure location to store teaching materials are required.Lift up to 50 lbs to store and transport materials; bending, stooping and crawling with children during class instruction.Must pass all background checks as a condition of employment.
