Job summary

Children First in Florida is seeking a Classroom Aide to support its after-school extended care program. The role focuses on supervising children, ensuring safety, and guiding activities.

You will collaborate with teachers and staff, communicate with parents about student progress, and help maintain a clean, organized classroom. The position offers opportunities for professional development in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• High school student (Junior or Senior) - or - High School diploma or GED.
• State mandated 45-hour coursework completion or ability to complete within established timeframes.
• Experience in a childcare or educational setting preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children.
• Basic knowledge of child development and educational practices.
• First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage with the children during after-school hours, ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Interact and actively supervise children students in their activities, providing guidance and support as needed.
• Plan and implement age-appropriate recreational and educational activities.
• Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages social interaction and teamwork.
• Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and staff regarding student progress and any concerns.
• Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment.
