Job summary

The Archdiocese of St. Louis seeks an Extended Care Aide to provide a safe, nurturing, and faith-filled environment for students in before- and after-school extended care.

You will supervise, assist with activities and homework, and model Catholic values while fostering a caring community. You will work under the Extended Care Director or Principal, promoting positive behavior, prayer, and teamwork with school staff and families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education/child development preferred.
• Experience with school-age children in classroom, childcare, camp, or similar setting preferred.
• Ability to supervise groups of children in a safe, engaging environment.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Collaborative work with school staff, students, and parents in support of Catholic education.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students before/after school and during extended care periods.
• Ensure safety and well-being with appropriate supervision at all times.
• Plan and lead age-appropriate recreational, educational, and enrichment activities.
• Assist with homework and promote responsibility and independence.
• Maintain a positive, faith-centered environment reflecting Catholic values.
• Lead students in prayer and model Christian behavior.
• Promote respectful interactions and follow school policies for behavior.
• Communicate concerns, injuries, or issues to director, principal, and parents as needed.
• Maintain attendance records and sign-in/sign-out procedures.
• Assist with snack distribution following health and allergy guidelines.
• Keep classrooms and activity areas clean and organized daily.
• Follow diocesan and school policies on child safety and confidentiality.
• Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development.

Job Summary

Working under the direction of the Extended Care Director or Principal, the aide supervises students, assists with activities and homework, and supports the mission of Catholic education by modeling Christian values and fostering a caring community.

Job Responsibilities

• Supervise students during before-school, after-school, and school break extended care programs.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all students by maintaining appropriate supervision at all times.

• Keep classrooms and activity areas clean, organized, and ready for daily use.
• Follow all diocesan and school policies regarding child safety, emergency procedures, and confidentiality.
• Participate in staff meetings, required training, and professional development opportunities.

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education, child development, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience working with school-age children in a classroom, childcare, camp, or similar setting preferred.
• Ability to supervise groups of children while maintaining a safe, positive, and engaging environment.
