Job summary

The After School Care and Camp Counselor role leads and engages children in a safe, positive, and fun environment after school and during seasonal camps. You’ll plan activities, supervise play, and support learning in a welcoming setting.

Responsibilities include homework help, teamwork with staff, communicating with parents, setting up materials, and helping with field trips and special events. A caring, adaptable approach is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework preferred.
• Previous experience with children in camp, after-school, daycare, or educational setting.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
• CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.
• Ability to work flexible hours including afternoons, evenings, and some weekends.
• Physically able to participate in activities indoors and outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Supervise safety and well-being of children during after-school and camp programs.
• Plan and lead age-appropriate activities (games, crafts, sports, outdoor activities).
• Maintain a positive, inclusive environment promoting social and emotional growth.
• Provide homework help and educational support as needed.
• Communicate with parents about children’s experiences and concerns.
• Assist in setting up, taking down, and storing materials and supplies.
• Collaborate with staff to plan events, field trips, and seasonal activities.
• Complete required training sessions and follow organization policies.
