Job summary

Apollo After School is seeking a caring Behavior Support Educator to provide individualized support for school-age children, including those who are neurodivergent. You’ll work with our after-school team to help kids participate in activities, routines, transitions, and peer interactions in a positive, respectful, and strengths-based way.

You will recognize signs of sensory overload and respond proactively, using positive behavior support and co-regulation to help children build self-regulation

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; must be at least 18.
• At least 1 year of experience working with school-age children.
• Experience supporting neurodivergent children strongly preferred.
• Experience with autism, ADHD, developmental disabilities, sensory needs, or regulation challenges strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with positive behavior support, de-escalation, co-regulation, visual schedules, first/then strategies, or sensory supports.
• Ability to stay calm, patient, and supportive during challenging behaviors.
• Strong observation and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to build trusting relationships while maintaining clear boundaries.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Dependability and ability to work independently when providing additional support.
• Commitment to inclusion and helping every child feel successful.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized behavioral, emotional, social, or sensory support.
• Help neurodivergent children participate in after-school activities.
• Assist with transitions, routines, and peer interactions.
• Recognize signs of sensory overload or escalating behavior and respond calmly.
• Use developmentally appropriate strategies to support self-regulation and communication.
• Collaborate with Site Director, educators, and leadership to implement plans.
• Document observations and communicate progress and concerns to leadership.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student needs.
