Job summary

Goddard Riverside Community Center in Manhattan seeks Group Leaders to supervise a co-ed group of 20–25 youth in grades K–8 and to work with activity specialists. You will lead enrichment activities, ensure safety, and support teachers in morning sessions with the Summer Rising collaboration.

The role requires at least 2 years of youth work, supervisory experience, and a strong commitment to youth development. Background checks and CPR/First Aid are required or preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• At least two years of experience working with youth under 13 in groups.
• At least one year in a supervisory role.
• High School Diploma or GED; higher education preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively; pass background check including fingerprinting.
• CPR/First Aid Certification a plus.

Responsibilities

• Foster a learning environment that stimulates creativity.
• Demonstrate professionalism and leadership within a team of staff.
• Deliver educational programs with NYC Public Schools teachers.
• Maintain supervision and ensure participant safety at all times.
• Supervise youth workers and other staff; participate in activities.
• Build positive relationships and model respectful behavior.
• Encourage participation and development of social skills.
• Lead organized games and activities; assist activity specialists.
• Complete schedules, attendance, and progress reports.
• Enforce program rules and address behavior issues constructively.
• Communicate with families about participant experiences.
