Babilou Family US, operating Little Sprouts schools in Massachusetts, seeks an After-School Assistant Counselor to help supervise and engage elementary students in after-school programs.

You will support activities, reinforce positive behavior, and assist with homework and enrichment opportunities in a collaborative, community-focused environment.

As an After-School Assistant Counselor, you will contribute to a positive and enriching learning environment for elementary-aged children. In this role, you will lead engaging activities, ensure student safety and well-being, and foster meaningful partnerships with students, families, and staff to promote a strong sense of community.

Student Supervision and Engagement

• Assistin supervising children during after-school hours, including indoor and outdoor activities.

• Support students inparticipatingin educational, recreational, and enrichment activities.

Program Support

• Help set up,facilitate, andclean upactivities, games, crafts, andspecial events.

• Prepare materials and supplies needed for activities.

Safety and Compliance

• Monitor students tomaintaina safe and supportive environment.

• Follow all program policies, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.

• Immediately report incidents, injuries, concerns, or behavioral issues to the Site Leader.

• Maintain appropriate staff-to-student ratios at all times.

• Greeting children at their drop off location andsupervisea brief walk to thecampus.

Communication and Teamwork

• Work collaboratively with Site Leaders and other program staff.

• Build positive relationships with students, families, and school personnel.

• Communicate student concerns, achievements, and behavioral observations to supervisory staff.

• Attend staff meetings andrequiredtrainingsas assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum age of16 years

• Experience working with children in educational, recreational, camp, childcare, or youth development settings preferred.

Preferred Skills & Competencies

• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain certification).

• Knowledge of positive behavior management practices.

Work Environment

Schedule

• Part-time,approximately 18-20hours per week.

• Typical hours are Monday through Friday during after-school program hours.

• Occasional attendance at staff meetings, training sessions, and special events may be required.

Physical Requirements

The After-School Assistant Counselor role requires active involvement in both administrative and classroom environments. To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the following physical abilities are required:

• Abilityto move throughout the school for prolonged periods, including standing and walking for up to 75 percent of the workday.

• Abilityto transition between sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, and squatting throughout the day to engage with children and support staff.

• Ability to safely lift, carry, and move items up to 30 pounds, including classroom materials, supplies, and occasionalassistancewith children’s belongings.

• Ability to sit on the floor, engage at a child’s eye level, andparticipatein age-appropriate activities including light running, outdoor play supervision, and interactive learning experiences.

• Comfort working in a dynamic, sometimes noisy environment with frequent interruptions and regular movement between indoor and outdoor spaces.

• Ability to supervise children on playgrounds, in classrooms, hallways, entryways, andcommon areas.

• Ability to respond quickly and safely in emergency situations, including evacuations, drills, and urgent classroom needs.

• Ability to follow and model all safety procedures.
