Women In Need, Inc. (WIN) seeks a Housing Services Coordinator in Brooklyn, NY to support the permanent housing search for shelter families by coordinating housing services activities to meet contract requirements and place families successfully.

You will guide families through subsidy applications, build relationships with brokers, arrange viewings, and work with Case Managers on housing strategies. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Associate’s degree with 4+ years in related work.
  • Strong knowledge of NYC housing market, subsidies, and supportive housing.

Responsibilities

  • Understand housing subsidies and guide families through the applications.
  • Develop partnerships with real estate brokers and landlords to access housing resources.
  • Coordinate housing viewings and assist with housing applications.
  • Collaborate with Case Managers on permanent housing strategies.
  • Coordinate WIN sponsored Housing Fairs and participate in networking events.
  • Facilitate housing workshops and provide information and resources to families.
  • Hold group meetings with new families within ten days of arrival to discuss subsidies and responsibilities.

THE ROLE

The Housing Services Coordinator is responsible for supporting the permanent housing search of the families living in the shelter by coordinating all housing services activities which will lead to the successful placement of families in accordance with WIN’s and other agency contractual requirements

What You Will Do
  • Demonstrate ability to understand housing subsidies and provide families with guidance and support with the application process.
  • Cultivate relationships and develop new partnerships with real estate rental brokers and landlords to ensure WIN families have access to current information and housing resources.
  • Liaise with brokers and landlords to ensure that potential housing meets Win requirements for client readiness and act as an expediter as needed.
  • Arrange apartment viewings and interviews with landlords. Provide escort to apartment viewings as required and assists with housing applications.
  • Collaborate with Case Managers and clients in developing permanent housing strategies.
  • Coordinate Win sponsored Housing Fairs and participate in networking events.
  • Coordinate and facilitate housing workshops which address client’s issues and needs; provide information and resources to families during the different phases of their housing search.
  • Coordinate and facilitate group meetings with new families within ten (10) days of arrival to discuss existing subsidies and review the responsibilities of the client regarding the search for permanent housing.
Who You Will Be
  • You will bring a bachelor’s degree (preferred) with at least 2 years of relevant experience
or
  • An associate’s degree with 4+ years of directly related experience
  • You will possess deep knowledge of the New York City housing market, including housing subsidies and supportive housing programs
  • You will demonstrate a proven ability to build and maintain strong partnerships with brokers, landlords, and housing stakeholders
  • You will exhibit excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills, along with sound judgment and a consistently professional demeanor
  • You will be flexible and willing to travel to potential housing sites as needed
