Job summary

Asset Living is seeking a Community Manager to oversee operations at a housing community under regional supervision. You will manage personnel, leasing, maintenance, financials, and risk, ensuring compliance with policies, safety, fair housing, and liability concerns.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred or four years in the housing industry.
  • Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) or Accredited Resident Manager (ARM) preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of fair housing laws and OSHA requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Personnel Management: regular on‑site attendance, screening, hiring, training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Financial Management: achieve high net operating income through cost control and leasing improvement; develop budgets, reconcile deposits and vendor invoices, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Strategic Leasing Management: develop marketing plans, ensure effective leasing techniques, handle resident complaints, and implement retention programs.
  • Administrative & Maintenance Management: accurate reporting, emergency team leadership, customer service oversight, property inspections, and coordination of maintenance, construction, and rehabilitation activities.

Education

Community Manager

The Community Manager oversees all operations of a housing community under the supervision of the Regional Manager, managing personnel, leasing, maintenance, financial, administrative, and risk management functions. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with Asset policies, safety and fair housing guidelines, and liability concerns.

Responsibilities
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in affordable housing programs such as LIHTC, HUD (Section 8, 236, PRAC, 811 PRA, USDA Rural Development), Home Funds and Bonds.
  • Affordable housing accreditation (HCCP, HCP‑E, COS, BOS, TCS, CPO) is preferred but not required.

Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred or four years in the housing industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) or Accredited Resident Manager (ARM) preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of fair housing laws and OSHA requirements.
Physical Requirements
  • Regular standing, walking, sitting, and handling of up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to perform tasks such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling as needed.
License/Equipment
  • Reliable transportation for emergency on‑call responsibility.

Our compensation decisions consider skill set, background, training, certifications, and other factors. Salary Range: $57,000 to $62,500 per year.
