Job summary

The Opportunity

This role provides leadership and oversight of Finishing Department operations to ensure the timely production of high-quality products that meet or exceed customer expectations. The Finishing Lead serves as a technical resource and team leader, supporting production performance, safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives while fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate daily finishing operations to achieve production, quality, and delivery objectives.
  • Review work orders and setup specifications to ensure jobs are processed accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensure crews have the necessary materials and resources to perform their jobs successfully.
  • Gather production data and assist with completion and review of production reports.
  • Verify that production information is accurately recorded by operators and team members.
  • Support operators with machine setup, startup, and production runs.
  • Conduct trial runs and verify machine settings before production begins.
  • Minimize downtime by troubleshooting issues, identifying root causes, and implementing preventative measures.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to team members to resolve operational challenges.
  • Monitor machine performance and product quality, making adjustments as needed.
  • Communicate production priorities, issues, and performance updates to team members, Leads, and Supervisors.
  • Actively participate in LEAN manufacturing initiatives, training programs, audits, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Lead and support safety and productivity improvement efforts.
  • Serve as a process expert and operational resource for the department.
  • Provide coverage for call-offs, breaks, and other staffing needs as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout production areas.
  • Act as an authorized Lockout/Tagout employee and ensure compliance with all safety procedures.
  • Ensure team members follow safety policies, quality standards, and operating procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Need to Succeed
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with affixing machines.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing priorities and business needs.
  • Ability to effectively train, coach, and communicate instructions to team members.
  • Computer proficiency related to affixing and wrapping system controls.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Strong understanding of production processes, quality standards, and continuous improvement principles.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and operational excellence.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed, including during peak production periods.
  • Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
