Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Welding Engineer to support manufacturing and development of Falcon 9, Starship, Dragon, and Starlink welding efforts. The role involves developing, qualifying, and optimizing welding designs and processes across multiple methods while interfacing with design and manufacturing teams to enforce standardized practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline is required.
  • Hands‑on fabrication, manufacturing, or testing experience of welded assemblies preferred.
  • Master’s degree in welding engineering or related program is a plus.
  • Familiarity with different welding processes and NDE methods is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and qualify weld processes and parameters for multiple welding processes.
  • Support production operations on full scale welded assemblies and guide welders.
  • Support design, manufacturing, and materials engineering with root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with design, tooling, and development engineers to improve weld designs.
  • Set up welding qualification test campaigns and interpret test results and NDE data.
  • Work with NDE personnel to assess weld quality on development and flight hardware.
  • Improve process control using feedback from testing and NDE results.
  • Set up automated welding solutions to improve consistency and output.
  • Explore new welding technologies to improve rate, quality, and efficiency.
