Job summary

Bellows Systems, Inc. seeks a Welding Engineer to own the weld process for thin-wall bellows used in spacecraft and aircraft. You will set parameters, write WPS/PQR, and maintain documentation for AWS D17.1, ASME IX, and Nadcap readiness.

You will analyze root causes of defects, develop schedules and fixtures, train operators, and collaborate with design and quality teams to ensure repeatable, auditable welding processes on flight hardware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Welding Engineering or related field; significant WPS/PQR experience accepted in lieu of degree.
• Experience writing, developing and qualifying welding procedure specifications and schedules for fusion or resistance welding.
• Working knowledge of AWS D17.1, AWS D17.2 and ASME Section IX.

Responsibilities

• Own welding processes: define parameter windows, qualify schedules, write work instructions and fixtures.
• Lead root cause analysis on defects like blow-through, porosity, cracking, NDT rejects, and drive corrective actions.
• Develop, qualify, and maintain WPS and PQR documentation to AWS D17.1, AWS D17.2, and ASME Section IX.
• Support Nadcap accreditation, audits, and corrective actions.
• Run controlled experiments and maintain meticulous trial records, results, and design iterations.
• Collaborate with design and quality engineers on first article and new product welds; contribute to weldability reviews.
• Train and support operators on process changes.
