Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering or related technical field.
• 3+ years of engineering experience developing or supporting welding and joining processes for aerospace or high-reliability hardware.
• Knowledge of AWS D17.1/D17.1M and ASME Section IX or equivalent codes.
• Experience creating and qualifying welding procedures and interpreting qualification records.
• Strong welding metallurgy, joint design, and heat treatment knowledge.
• Hands-on experience with GTAW and GMAW processes.
• Ability to read drawings and weld symbols, material certifications, and GD&T.
• Experience leading technical investigations and corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Develop, qualify, release, and maintain welding procedures and related documentation.
• Serve as technical authority for welding of flight and ground hardware throughout fabrication and inspection.
• Review drawings, weld symbols, specs, joint designs, and material callouts for producibility.
• Establish process variables, tooling, shielding, fit-up, heat input, and post-weld treatment controls.
• Evaluate weld metallurgy, distortion, residual stress, and material compatibility.
• Define inspection and acceptance plans with QA and NDE teams.
• Lead nonconformance investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Support design-for-manufacture reviews, risk assessments, and production readiness.
• Provide shop-floor support and mentor welders and engineers.
• Qualify external welding suppliers and maintain traceability of records.
