HX5, LLC seeks an Aerospace V&V Systems Engineer to support the SR-1 mission at NASA Glenn Research Center in Brook Park, Ohio. The role leads V&V planning and execution for the SR-1 NPM and interfaces with NASA and industry partners.

You will define verification methods, maintain the Verification Matrix, coordinate test planning, and validate mission requirements and operations concepts in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.

HX5 is currently seeking an Aerospace V&V Systems Engineer to join our team in Brook Park, Ohio in support of the GEARS contract at NASA Glenn Research Center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will support the Space Reactor-1 (SR-1) Freedom Nuclear Power Module (NPM) for Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) efforts. SR-1 is the planned NASA spacecraft that will demonstrate nuclear electric propulsion and provide a path to future higher power and longer duration missions, which will be required for missions to Mars.

The selected candidate will act as the SR-1 NPM Verification and Validation (V&V) Planning and Execution technical lead, with the primary responsibilities:

• Ensure the system is verified and validated using the defined mission success criteria
• Define verification methods for all requirements
• Define and maintain the Verification Matrix to ensure industry partner’s V&V plans align with system-level V&V
• Ensure the V&V Plan is in-line with the SR-1 V&V plan
• Coordinate subsystem and system level test planning for requirement closure criteria
• Ensure validation of mission requirements and concept of operations
• Collaborate with the Integration & Test and External Interfaces technical leads
• Act as the interface to the with the mission level V&V planning effort

The selected candidate will support the SR-1 NPM Lead Systems Engineer, and this effort is monitored by the Science and Space Technology Systems Branch at NASA GRC, which provides leadership in systems engineering to enable science and space technology programs and projects.

Required Skills:

• Experience with verification and validation planning and execution
• Knowledge or experience with spacecraft integration at the system and subsystems levels
• Knowledge or experience with formal systems engineering processes
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with the NASA team and their industry partners

Desired Skills:

• Experience with NASA systems engineering for spacecraft hardware and specifically with NPR 7123.1
• Experience with complete life cycle for a space flight project
• Experience with a NASA spaceflight hardware project
• Experience working with NASA

Education/Experience:

Completed at least a Bachelor of Science degree, from an accredited program, with the following education and experience:

• Bachelor of Science degree and ten (10) or more years of relevant experience
• Master of Science degree and six (6) to fifteen (15) years of relevant experience
• Ph D. and zero (0) to three (3) years of relevant experience

Other Position Requirements:

• Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
• Must have a security clearance or the ability to obtain security clearance.
