Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Tooling Project Engineer to lead end-to-end aerospace tooling projects onsite at a client facility in Mobile, Alabama.

You will guide design, manufacturing, inspection, and acceptance, coordinating with customers, suppliers, and internal teams while maintaining cost, schedule, and technical performance. The role demands hands-on collaboration on the production floor and a proactive, safety-conscious approach.

Qualifications

• Experience in tooling, manufacturing engineering, machining, or aerospace manufacturing environments.
• Ability to bridge engineering and production teams for effective communication.
• Understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) applied to tooling and aerospace components.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Ability to view 3D CAD models and use AutoCAD for design/review.
• Strong customer-facing communication skills.
• Experience with tooling, fixtures, jigs, platforms, or aerospace manufacturing tooling.
• Machining experience with CNC processes.
• Strong manufacturing mindset with practical problem-solving in production.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on aeronautical tooling projects from design review to final acceptance.
• Translate requirements into robust tooling solutions for aerospace manufacturing.
• Prepare and negotiate technical tenders to meet objectives.
• Define scope and plans, organizing project resources per client expectations.
• Lead project execution, controlling cost, schedule, quality, and performance.
• Ensure tooling meets mechanical, dimensional, and functional specs per standards.
• Coordinate internal teams and external clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Manage full lifecycle from planning to closure with documentation.
• Monitor milestones, risks, and optimize resources.
• Oversee subcontractors and ensure compliance with requirements.
• Provide technical support and resolve issues with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Support acceptance procedures and technical documentation.
• Ensure health, safety, and quality standards on-site (QHSE).
• Represent the company professionally in customer-facing interactions.
