Job summary

Howmet Fastening Systems is seeking a Tooling Specialist III, Machine Build (1st Shift) at our Fullerton, CA facility. You will design and build custom automation, using PLC, machine vision, robotics and 5S practices to support aerospace fastening systems.

You’ll work with engineers to develop efficient tooling and perform preventive maintenance. You must have 2+ years in machine building, experience with CNC tooling, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

2+ years machine building or tool-room experience preferred.
Knowledge of mills, lathes, grinders, and comparators.
Ability to convert prints to CNC data and determine feeds/speeds.
Thorough knowledge of precision measuring equipment and trig.
Experience with Trak, SMX/RMX/SLX or equivalent CNC control systems.
Experience assembling and troubleshooting mechanical assemblies, pneumatics, hydraulics.
English reading and writing in safety and maintenance docs; able to communicate with managers and coworkers.
Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

Produce machine parts and tooling from prints using CNC mills, lathes, and grinders.
Create drawings to reproduce tools or components as needed.
Work to precise tolerances (+.0005) and assemble new mechanical systems.
Disassemble systems for inspection and recommend repairs or replacements.
Machine, assemble, and install machine guarding and electro-mechanical devices.
Collaborate with design/engineering to develop parts and processes for efficient manufacturing.
Generate material and supply requests; support installed systems at sister sites with some travel.
Perform basic preventive maintenance and maintain 5S standards.
