Job summary

Smith Brothers Tool Company seeks skilled machinists to translate customer prints into precision jigs and fixtures. You will lay out reference points, coordinate tooling holes, and troubleshoot tools to keep aerospace programs moving.

Proficiency with GD&T, 3D CAD interpretation, and manual machining is essential. The role requires hands-on fabrication, metrology, and operation of lathes, mills, and grinders, with strong math skills and clear communication.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building precision jigs/fixtures.
• Fluent blueprint reading, including GD&T and interpretation of 3D CAD models.
• Background in manual machining preferred.
• Strong math aptitude and clear communication skills.
• U.S. citizenship or Lawful Permanent Resident status required.

Responsibilities

• Execute builds directly from customer drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Lay out and coordinate reference points and tooling holes using straightedges and precision metrology tools.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and rework existing tools when needed.
• Create quick fabrication sketches to support build plans and clarify details.
• Operate machine tools such as lathes, Bridgeport mills, and grinders.
