Job summary

Chromalloy in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an Associate Tooling Design Engineer to design tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing solutions for aerospace components. You will transform engineering concepts into manufacturable solutions while partnering with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements.

You will create 3D CAD models in NX, own project aspects from concept to production, and mentor engineers, supporting cost, quality, and schedule objectives in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• Experience designing tooling, fixtures, manufacturing equipment, or aerospace components in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong CAD modeling and drawing creation skills, preferably using NX.
• Experience with CNC manufacturing processes and CAM programming.
• Knowledge of reverse engineering methodologies and measurement technologies (CMMs, optical scanning).
• Ability to interpret drawings, specs, and manufacturing requirements.
• Understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing solutions for aerospace components.
• Own technical aspects of projects from concept through production implementation.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models and drawings using NX or similar CAD software.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, operations, quality, and engineering to meet performance, quality, and cost objectives.
• Conduct reverse engineering activities using visual inspection, dimensional analysis, 3D scanning, and measurement technologies.
• Develop and support CNC programming and manufacturing processes for tooling fabrication and production.
• Evaluate tooling designs for manufacturability, usability, durability, and efficiency.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and team members.
• Support new product introduction (NPI) initiatives and manufacturing readiness activities.
• Analyze tooling fabrication costs, project schedules, and risks to support business objectives.
• Present technical recommendations and design solutions to stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tooling performance and product quality.
