Job summary

SpaceX is hiring a TIG Welder for the Raptor engine fluid systems team in Hawthorne, CA. You will weld, assemble, and fabricate fluid systems, inspect in-process, and own the weld area with a focus on quality and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years of aerospace TIG welding experience.
• 1+ years of fitting welded assemblies.
• 3+ years welding with stainless steel, carbon steel, Inconel, aluminum or titanium.
• Proficient in tube cutting, grinding and fabrication.
• Blueprint reading and layout experience.
• Welding that passes visual inspection before X-ray/dye pen.
• AWS D17.1 and D1.2 certifications.
• Experience with overhead cranes and forklifts.

Responsibilities

• Welding, assembly, and fabrication of fluid systems and sub-assemblies.
• Repair casting defects by grinding, welding and blending.
• Analyze drawings/specs to plan welding operations; read work instructions.
• Use calipers, micrometers and depth gauges for measurements.
• Improve operations and reduce cycle times through teamwork.
• Operate shop equipment and vehicles (forklifts, booms, etc.).
• Conduct in-process inspections.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area.
• Own weld area equipment and processes.
• Identify cost reductions and process improvements.
