Job summary

Astranis Space Technologies Corp. is seeking a Thermal Engineer to design, evaluate, and test thermal solutions for spacecraft, from chips to full systems. The role requires hands-on testing, strong problem-solving, and experience with CAD in a fast-paced hardware development environment.

You will perform thermal analyses, develop integrated thermal solutions, and lead vacuum testing to ensure mission readiness, with opportunities to work on diverse spacecraft components and systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in engineering or physics required.
• 2+ years in a thermal/mechanical role required.
• Proficiency with mechanical CAD required.
• Experience with Thermal Desktop and ANSYS is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Mature designs through conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases using practical passive and active thermal control techniques.
• Support design trades balancing performance margins, resource use, risk, cost, and schedule.
• Perform thermal analysis to varying fidelity on hardware such as propulsion components, batteries, high powered electronics, RF components, mechanisms, and PCBs.
• Design, evaluate, procure and test thermal solutions such as heaters, heat pipes, TIMs, and surface coatings.
• Develop processes and procedures for integration and assembly to ensure thermal design intent is met; collaborate with the integration and test team.
• Plan and run thermal vacuum testing and verification at component and spacecraft level.
