Job summary

Shield AI in Seattle is seeking a Systems Integration Engineer to own the design, installation, and integration of aircraft systems across the development lifecycle. You will collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines to deliver manufacturable and reliable hardware.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience designing aircraft hardware, installing subsystems, and solving multidisciplinary integration challenges including EWIS, avionics, and structuring.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 3+ years of experience designing and integrating mechanical systems for aerospace/defense.
• Experience with 3D CAD and large assemblies (NX/SolidWorks/CATIA/Creo).

Responsibilities

• Independently design machined, fabricated, composite, and sheet metal components for aircraft applications.
• Develop installation layouts optimizing packaging, accessibility, serviceability, manufacturability, and weight.
• Design routing paths for EWIS, hydraulic, fuel, pneumatic, and ECS systems.
• Create detailed drawings and assembly documentation per drafting standards.
• Maintain CAD assemblies, BOMs, and releases in PLM systems.
• Apply GD&T and perform tolerance stack-up analyses for manufacturability.
• Support prototype builds, production integration, and issue resolution.
• Investigate issues via root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate avionics and systems.
• Perform engineering calculations to support design decisions and assess structural adequacy.
