Job summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. in Poway, CA, is seeking an Aircraft Structures Design Engineer to develop high-performance primary and secondary structural designs for air vehicles using both composite and metallic materials.

You will design by analysis, utilizing CAD and finite element tools to deliver robust structures. The role requires experience with NX, Creo, Catia, and related FE tools, collaboration across IPTs, and documentation for production readiness.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering and 4+ years with a bachelor’s or 2+ years with a master’s.
• Experience includes classical hand calculations, finite element analysis, and design-for-manufacturability.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain Advance Airframe CAD models, drawings of installations and assemblies.
• Produce airframe structural layouts including preliminary sizing and stress analysis.
• Coordinate with stress, manufacturing, procurement, and quality control to mature designs from concept to production.
• Demonstrate knowledge of composite and metallic materials and structural joints.
• Prepare Product Definition Packages and interface with IPT leadership.
