Job summary

Aerotek seeks an Aerospace Structures Technician / Mechanical Assembler for a contract-to-hire role based in Santa Ana, CA. You will perform precision drilling, mechanical assembly of flight hardware, and use specialized tooling in a strict aerospace environment.

Expect work with aluminum and other aerospace materials, strict tolerances, and thorough in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, and pin gauges.

Qualifications

• Experience drilling precision holes in aerospace structures.
• Proficient with torque wrenches and verifying torque values.
• Knowledge of structural bonding and sealant prep.
• Ability to work to tight tolerances and complex specs.
• Experience with hiloks, rivets, and aerospace fasteners.
• Mechanical assembly experience with subassemblies and mechanisms.
• Experience applying alodine or protective coatings.
• Competent with micrometers, calipers, and pin gauges for inspections.

Responsibilities

• Drill precision holes in aerospace components and hardware with proper tooling.
• Set up tooling, jigs, and fixtures to ensure alignment and repeatability.
• Assemble hardware using structural adhesives and correct cure processes.
• Torque fasteners to spec and verify through torque tools.
• Install threaded inserts and fasteners with proper fit.
• Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, and gauges for tolerances.
• Deburr and blend surfaces; apply protective coatings as needed.
• Follow bonding, sealant, and process documentation and safety standards.
