Job summary

Archer is an aerospace company in San Jose, CA, developing an all-electric VTOL aircraft. We seek a Structural Design Engineer to design fixtures, test equipment and instrumentation in CAD, assemble fixtures, and lead testing programs focused on composite structures.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience with lightweight structures (aircraft, spacecraft, other high-performance vehicles).
Bachelor's degree in engineering.
Ability to design and analyze simple components.
Understanding of load paths and laminate design fundamentals.
Strong CAD skills in NX (preferred), SolidWorks, Catia or Creo.
Familiarity with PDM systems.
Experience with manufacturing of composite parts.
Ability to lift 50 lb+.
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Responsibilities

Design fixtures, test equipment, and define instrumentation in CAD.
Assemble fixtures and conduct structural tests on flight-critical and other test articles.
Lead small test teams to drive programs to completion.
Create instrumentation definitions, calibrate and install instrumentation on test articles.
Collect and analyze data from testing.
Define testing procedures, SOPs, and best practices.
Enforce safety and test protocol in the structural test lab.
