Job summary

York Space Systems is seeking a Software Test Engineer to join the SIT team. You will plan and execute manual integration, regression, and release tests across flight, ground, and interface software, collaborating with engineering to validate mission-critical systems.

You will create thorough test documentation, reproduce defects, and track issues, ensuring high-quality software before launch. Strong attention to detail and quick learning of spacecraft systems are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related STEM field.
• 2+ years of experience in Software Testing, Software Systems Engineering, Software Quality Assurance, or related field.
• Experience manually testing web applications or other user-facing software.
• Experience with writing test documentation such as test plans, procedures, reports, and defect records.
• Experience troubleshooting software behavior across multiple applications, services, interfaces, or system components.
• Familiarity with Linux command-line navigation and Docker commands used to inspect containers and retrieve logs.
• Capable of managing multiple tasks while delivering according to program milestones and release commitments.
• Ability to proactively identify problems and communicate them clearly to leadership.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute manual software integration, regression, and release testing for flight software, ground software, interface middleware, and other SIT products.
• Interact with other departments to support testing using SIT products.
• Support test-driven development for spacecraft flight software, ground software, and space vehicle integration.
• Create and maintain test documentation, troubleshooting notes, defect records, and test reports.
• Identify, reproduce, document, and track software defects, usability issues, procedural discrepancies, and unexpected system behavior.
