Job summary

The Boeing Company in Oklahoma City, OK is seeking a Software Safety Engineer to join our System Engineering Team. You will work across the program lifecycle to identify hazards, evaluate safety, and support design and certification activities for aerospace systems.

Responsibilities include hazard tracking, safety analyses, interfacing with engineering teams and customers, and ensuring compliance with DO-178/DO-254 and MIL standards. Entry-level to associate roles are available.

Qualifications

Bachelor degree in engineering or related field required.
Active US Secret Clearance or ability to obtain one required.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to brief diverse stakeholders.
Strong analytical skills with ability to analyze large datasets and identify hazards.
Experience as software or safety engineer preferred.

Responsibilities

Defines and validates safety, mission success, and airworthiness; supports design, operations, and procedures.
Supports internal software certification processes.
Performs hazard tracking and risk assessment via SSHA, SAR, and SCFTA.
Conducts safety analyses and memos including EBRs and safety reviews.
Collaborates with stakeholders to define, validate, and integrate safety requirements.
Verifies system meets defined safety requirements through analyses, audits, and reviews.
Briefs management, program offices, and USAF personnel on safety matters.
